Video Production Badge

Participants in this program produced and starred in a weekly live stream video production highlighting activities that were taking place at the school.  The specific tasks and competencies include:

  • Storyboarding the broadcast; video-badge 
  • Pitching story ideas;
  • Writing stories;
  • Reading stories live on air;
  • Creation of digital art assets for the broadcast;
  • Operating the broadcast software;
  • Interviewing people for the broadcast.

While not everyone in the program completed every task, tasks were regularly rotated to give opportunity for all students to participate in as many jobs as they could.  All students were exposed to all aspects of the broadcast.  Specific job roles were:

  • Story writer - Someone who wrote a story for the broadcast.  Took a pitch idea, and made it into a story.
  • Story editor - Someone who edited the stories written by others to improve spelling, grammar, flow and content.
  • Producer - Someone who lead the pitch and storyboarding portions of the afternoon.  As well as oversaw the entire production.
  • Creation of assets (digital and paper) - Someone who created assets for the broadcast, either in software, or by hand.
  • Set setup  / Assistant Producer - Someone who set up the set, and/or assisted the producer in the production.
  • Anchor / actor - Someone who took on the role of presenting a story.
  • Live stream technician - Someone who operated the broadcast software and mixed together the live streaming components with the static assets.

Students who received this badge:

  • Attended at least half of the sessions for the term (# of #);
  • Completed at least half of the roles on the team over the term.
